About us
Animal Heroes is a growing international emergency aid organization with headquarters in the Netherlands. We help local “Animal Heroes”: people who rescue, protect, and care for animals during acute emergencies under difficult circumstances. We have supported animal heroes in various regions, including Ukraine, Spain, Turkey, the West Bank, Lebanon, Uganda, and more.
Our professional team of 31 volunteers from 14 different nationalities has extensive experience in animal charity organizations, corporate business, veterinary science, biology, marketing, logistics, and finance.
Our goal is to help animals by raising awareness and funding for Animal Heroes projects with donors, media, and corporate sponsors. We don’t do politics or activism. Our sole focus is on emergency aid for animals.
What will you do?
Via our multilingual website, we promote our Animal Heroes projects and collect donations for them. We work with WordPress and Elementor with various plug-ins for multilingual, donation forms, and peer-to-peer donation modules. We aim to continually improve the experience of our audiences on our website.
To help us do that, we are looking for a colleague who can help us with:
- Adding content to the website: for example, adding project pages, new press releases, blog articles, and team members to the website.
- Creating visuals: for example, unifying partner logos and adding them to the website.
- Improving the website design: for example, aligning the pages better on mobile.
- Integrating new elements into the website: for example, new content sections or future new functionalities.
- Website optimization: you collaborate with our team to take all necessary actions to improve the efficiency and user experience of our website.
- Website Performance Monitoring: you monitor website performance, including site speed, uptime, and overall user experience. You identify and resolve any technical issues or bugs that may arise, working closely with developers.
Who are you?
Must-haves:
- You are an animal lover who wants to contribute to the Animal Heroes cause and objectives
- You would love to improve our website for an average of 4-6 hours per week.
- You have experience with WordPress, Elementor, and a good understanding of WordPress plug-in interoperability.
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
- Profound knowledge of Canva or another visual design tool
- You work with great attention to detail and handle deadlines well.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- You are capable of working independently and remotely.
Nice to haves:
- You understand UX/UI principles and best practices.
- You know website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Looker Studio).
