Animal Heroes opens emergency clinic for animals in the West Bank

Amsterdam, February 25, 2025 – A team from the European aid organisation Animal Heroes has recently returned from the West Bank to assist animals in the conflict area. Due to the escalation of violence in Jenin, many homes have been destroyed and animals have been left without food, shelter, or care. Many of these animals are injured and completely abandoned.

Obstacles due to roadblocks

The situation is dire. Transporting injured animals to medical care is becoming increasingly difficult due to roadblocks. Esther Kef, founder of Animal Heroes, says: “The nearest animal clinic is about an hour’s drive away, but due to roadblocks, it sometimes takes a full day before injured animals can reach a clinic.”

Emergency clinic in Jenin

To provide quick medical assistance, Animal Heroes is opening the first emergency clinic for injured animals in the conflict zone of Jenin. Starting in March, abandoned and stray animals will be treated on-site free of charge by Animal Heroes’ medical team.

Fundraiser for medicines

To support the clinic, Animal Heroes has launched a fundraising campaign for medications and other supplies for injured animals in the West Bank.

Thousands of animals supported in Gaza and the West Bank

Since the outbreak of the war, Animal Heroes, with the support of European donors, has been able to help thousands of animals on the West Bank and in Gaza with food and medical care. The organisation has a pop-up clinic in Gaza and is the initiator of the Animals in Gaza Alliance, an international collaboration to support animals in Gaza. In cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent, a shipment of animal food will be sent to Gaza in early March.
