Welcome to Animal Heroes!
Where compassion meets action.
About Animal Heroes
Animal Heroes is an emergency aid organisation for animals, founded in the Netherlands (ANBI registered) in 2022 and operating globally. In our first year, we helped over 14,500 animals. We continue to save thousands of more animals with the help of our volunteers and donors.
Our mission is simple: to stand with the heroes who risk everything – sometimes including their own safety – to save animals in crisis. Animal heroes around the world are helping injured, neglected, and abandoned animals in the most difficult circumstances, such as conflict areas or natural disasters. Often, they work with little recognition and limited resources.
With your support, our animal heroes can get the resources and visibility they need to keep saving lives.
Our Values
Courage
We step into challenging situations to provide animals help where it’s needed most, staying resilient even under tough conditions.
Integrity
We keep our promises and handle donations with full transparency. We openly share both successes and challenges, and we hold ourselves accountable to the people and animals we serve.
Agility
We act with urgency while keeping processes reliable solid yet simple. We adapt our approach and resources to find solutions even when difficult.
Openness
We nurture a culture of openness and collaboration. We support animals in urgent need — regardless of species or location. We recognise that our way is not the only way.
How does Animal Heroes work?
Every rescue, treatment, and safe haven we provide for animals in Lebanon, Gaza, Ukraine, and beyond is made possible through the support of donors and sponsors.
100% of donations go directly towards the animal projects you choose, meaning your support has a direct and meaningful impact on the animals who need it. By helping Animal Heroes, you become part of a compassionate community dedicated to protecting and caring for animals.
Transparency and impact are at the heart of everything we do and we believe it’s important for you to see the difference your support makes. That’s why we stay closely connected with local animal heroes and share updates from the projects and animals you’re helping.
Here are three ways you can get involved:
Meet the team
Animal Heroes is run entirely by compassionate volunteers from all backgrounds who dedicate their time, skills, and care to maximising our impact for animals. From marketing, veterinary care, and IT to logistics and finance, we bring different strengths but share the same deep love for animals and commitment to helping them.
With volunteers across the Netherlands and Italy, to Finland and the US, we bring together our hearts across borders to help fellow animal heroes around the world.
Your passion and support make our work possible. Together, we can be heroes for animals in need, no matter where they are.
What our donors are saying
What our donors are saying
On behalf of the animals, I would like to thank Animal Heroes for their work in Turkey after the February 2023 earthquake in Turkey. We were able to save many animals thanks to the help of Animal Heroes. I want you to know that Animal Heroes are among our most important friends.
